Equinix completes MainOne integration nearly two years after acquisitionL

Leading global data center and colocation provider, Equinix, has successfully integrated MainOne , Nigeria's premier data center company, following its $320 million acquisition in 2022. This strategic integration combines the resources, assets, and teams of both organizations, unlocking synergies and efficiencies that drove the acquisition.

MainOne continues to operate under a new brand “MainOne, an Equinix company”, with its founder, Funke Opeke, continuing to lead under the new brand of “MainOne, an Equinix company.In December 2021, Equinix announced its expansion into Africa through its intended acquisition of MainOne, leading West African data center and connectivity solutions provider, with presence in Nigeria, Ghana and Côte d'Ivoire. 

The acquisition closed in April 2022, after satisfaction of customary closing conditions including the requisite regulatory approvals. Under the terms of the agreement, Equinix acquired MainOne and its assets with an all-cash transaction at an enterprise value of US$320M.
